BIOGRAPHY

Ross Alcock started his professional musical career as the keyboardist and songwriter with the Glasgow band H2O. The band released their first independent single 'Hollywood Dream' in 1981, and after signing with RCA Records, enjoyed nationwide success with chart hits 'Dream To Sleep', and 'Just Outside Of Heaven' and their studio album 'Faith'. The band toured extensively throughout the 1980s and continued to release singles, including ‘Blue Diamond’ until 1988. He has also written music for film and television.

Ross left the band to become a nuclear physicist and eventually Operations Manager at a Nuclear Power Station in Scotland.

A NEW CHAPTER

Ross returned to music and songwriting in 2020 during lockdown, composing his first solo album 'Dreamsongs' which was released in 2023. Songs from the album have appeared on multiple online play lists and streams are in the hundreds of thousands. The song ‘Pirates Gold’ was featured on BBC Scotland's ‘The Afternoon Show’ and reached the semi-finals of the International Songwriting Contest 2023. The Sound Of Water formed as a band in December 2024 and recently headlined a gig at Glasgow's Ivory Blacks to celebrate 20 years of Stealth Recording Studios, Glasgow. The gig received great reviews from on-line music critics ‘Bluesbunny’ and ‘Is This Music’. The band will be performing more live dates later in 2025.
